From global warming to the steady decrease of wildlife, our planet is facing some of the worst environmental concerns ever recorded. It seems every year there is a new recorded highest heat, or longest period without rainfall, and despite the best efforts from conservationists, no one seems to care. Big corporations are not putting the work in preserving our planet, so that means the job to protect the green falls upon local governments and the community within. Regardless of how little it may help, some of the best ways local governments can do their part is by the mantainence of trees.
Proper maintenance of trees helps prevent potential hazards such as falling branches or uprooted trees, which could pose danger or problems for passersby. In storms, poorly maintained trees could be flying hazards to buildings and powerlines, possibly exacerbating any potential damages. Environmentally, tree maintenance is extremely beneficial for the ecosystem, and well maintained trees circulate air better and get better sunlight exposure, helping to provide a cool breeze and habitats for small creatures and birds. On the other hand, neglected trees are a breeding ground for pests and diseases, which can ravage surrounding wildlife and negatively affect the human community and our pets.
In this worst case situation, tree removal is necessary. Despite efforts to plant more trees, sometimes getting rid of some can go a long way in the betterment of the wildlife. The removal of diseased, dead, or severely damaged trees in the long run can help foster growth for the surrounding trees and allow them to grow to their fullest potential. Likewise, the removal of some trees can help manage overgrowth, which would allow the trees remaining ample room to grow and ensure the availability of resources.
Tree maintenance and removal has the sole goal of balance. We love the benefits of trees and the good they bring, but to enjoy those benefits we must do a better job at preserving them and nurture their growth, especially if that means cutting down hazardous trees. With this goal in mind, the City of Elk Grove, California is seeking vendors who are able to carry out tree maintenance and removal throughout the city. Scope of work includes planting, removal, and trimming of trees in the city as directed through work orders as well as clean up of twigs and branches left from the accomplished work.
